Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)
Rite of the Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the conversion process by which non-baptized adults (catechumens) and baptized Christians (candidates) are fully initiated into the Catholic Church. RCIA is an opportunity for people to learn about the doctrine of the Catholic faith and appropriate it as their own.
RCIA is a time of prayerful discernment. All adults who are interested in becoming Catholic are welcome to attend RCIA.
Adults who are ready to become fully initiated will receive the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist) at the Easter vigil. RCIA sessions are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in Fischer Center according to the designated schedule. RCIA meetings also include Breaking Open of the Word, a time of reflection on the Sunday Gospel reading on Sunday mornings from the 1st Sunday of Advent until Palm/Passion Sunday. Candidates and Catechumens attend 10am Mass and are dismissed after the homily for a time of reading and reflection on Sacred Scripture.
If you would like more information please contact the Director of Religious Education, Sandy Nettleton at (316) 682-1415.
