My Dear Parishioners of All Saints Catholic Church and School,
Blessings from our Lord and the Blessed Mother be with you all during this difficult and scary time of our lives due to the coronavirus. Let us hope and pray that soon we will return to our normal way of life. Please don’t lose hope nor your faith in God. God will never abandon us. Let us always trust in God and take good care of ourselves, our loved ones and all of humanity by not spreading the virus. I am very sad about not having our church and chapel open, especially for Holy Masses. Holy Mass is the heartbeat of our Catholic faith. For this reason, I celebrate my private Masses in our church to pray for you, your family and the whole world. I choose our church because it’s God’s house and it has been our spiritual home for generations. Nothing can keep me from keeping our church as God’s dwelling place where I offer prayers and sacrifices for you and for the salvation of all. All Saint’s Church is our spiritual home with our love, faith and trust in God. Please know that at every Mass, you are in my heart. My eyes will see empty pews, but my heart will see your love and your faith in God; together we will worship God and love one another. Thank you for your financial contributions to our church and school. Attached is your up-to-date contribution for this year. Thank you! As you know, our main source of income to pay our bills is from the church collection. Since there has been no Mass, there is no collection, and we are in dire need of money to pay our bills. Yes, even now with no collection, we are still obligated to pay all teachers and employees, their health insurance, etc.… Please join me in thanking God for some of our non-contracted staff who have volunteered to work less hours for they understand that we don’t have money to pay them and all the bills. Here are some suggestions for you that would help: --Please consider donating one percent or more of your unused money—from savings, CD, etc.… Make your check payable to: All Saints Catholic School to help pay our teachers and make the payments to Kapaun and Bishop Carrol high schools. Any amount will be very helpful for it cost the parish over $4,000 to educate one child per year. Our mission is to educate and to form our children into great intellectuals and spiritual disciples of Christ. They are the future of our church, families and countries. --Tithing: please consider using direct deposit method now to reduce costs by completing the form CLICK HERE and returning it to us. It’s safe and free to you and costs very little to the church. A special thanks to those who have been using this method. --Send in your donations: If direct deposit is not possible, please mail in your collection envelopes or drop them in the office drop box. This method is inconvenient for you--write checks, costs of stamps and mail envelopes; inconvenient to our church—cost to buy the collection envelops and mail them to you, need a group of 5-6 people to count the money, and of course the danger of getting infected from the envelopes and money. As of today, our teachers and staff are back to work, some are learning how to teach online and others are serving food to any child under 18 to help families out during this virus threat. Our staff has also sanitized our church and school buildings. Please know that you are always welcome to be in our church and chapel for personal prayers and devotions. This is your church and chapel; you have the right to use it. If you don’t know the door’s combination yet, please contact the church office. On Sundays, there are so many online Masses on TV, such as EWTN, and a live-streamed Mass by Bishop Kemme at the Cathedral at 10am, https://catholicdioceseofwichita.org/covid-19/ To read daily scriptures and Sunday readings, please visit USCCB.ORG. Here is a spiritual communion prayer that you can use: My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen. Finally, please don’t forget to stay home as much as possible to avoid infections from people or places, to wash your hands as often as is needed, and pray together at home especially for the sick. I Love you all; I miss being with you to see your smiles and to hear your greetings, Fr. Hien PS. Thank you to Linden Bates, a longtime parishioner who took care of our lawn for over 25 years. One day, he said to me, “Father, I am getting too old to mow.” I am so thankful that he gave so much of his time, talent and treasure to our parish. God bless you Linden and we appreciate your commitment to yours and our parish. To save money, I am looking for used mowers—bigger is better because we have so much acreage, and volunteers to help mow our church & school lawn. Please let the office know if you can help/donate. My Dear Parishioners,
Are you ready for spring break? Our children will be on their spring break March 13-22. Please enjoy them at home or on vacation. Please be safe & always keep everyone safe & sound. Please remember to be a family with your time, talents & treasures for God and each other. Pray together at home during your vacation. Visit Masstimes.org to find a church near your traveling area. God is great and He always loves to be with us. With God all things are possible for you, your family and for the whole human race, living and deceased. Always trust in God—Jesus, I trust in you. Coronavirus--has been spreading like wildfire in many countries and it’s getting close to us. For this reason, our Bishop Kemme has taken a precaution step to omit the sign of peace during Mass. He made it clear that there should be no sign of peace, and no holding of hands during the Our Father prayer either. If you are sick, please stay home and rest but don’t forget to pray, especially reading the Bible or watching Mass on TV if you can. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding. Let us hope and pray that this coronavirus will pass by soon and that doctors will have a way to help many sick people with this new virus. We are thankful that we are still holding Masses for even Italy is canceling Masses and large gatherings until Palm Sunday, very sad…. Vietnamese Retreat has been held for many years, perhaps more than a decade; a group of our Vietnamese parishioners will hold their annual retreat with guest priests for everyone this weekend of March 13-15. Everyone will be remembered and prayed for during this retreat. Finally, at every Holy Mass, let us thank God for everyone in our church family, the born and the unborn, and the healthy and the sick of our church family, that Our Lord will always watch over us and bless us with His divine love and grace. Congratulations to 69 of our parish members who received their sacrament of Confirmation last Saturday from Bishop Kemme. It was such a special blessing to have so many people attend the Confirmation Mass in our own church. So many people attended, and it was so meaningful and beautiful. This is what a church family should look like; we gather to worship, to give thanks to God and to pray for one another, especially for our children on their Confirmation day. A special thanks to all those who made this beautiful Mass possible: our children who lectored, our altar servers, ushers and greeters, gifts bearers, the choir, etc.… God bless you all and I love you always, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
How are you doing? First, I would like to thank everyone for attending our Ash Wednesday Masses. You really revealed your love and faith in God. So many people attended our three Masses, especially the 6:30pm. It was like a Christmas Eve Mass. You made my day and you surely made our Lord so happy with you. You and I are here to love God, to worship God and to serve God. Did you know that since I have been here, we have been blessed with about a hundred new families, plus 57 new students in our All Saints Catholic school this year? It’s all because we and our children are putting God first in the Holy Mass—the Eucharist. We want to become one with Jesus and to imitate His eternal love for all people. We also want our children to continue learning and growing in our Catholic faith. May God bless you all and keep us all close to Him and to each other. Secondly, if you are reading this message before this weekend, please join me in celebrating the Holy Sacrament of Confirmation for over 70 of our children, this Saturday, March 7th at 4pm with our Bishop Carl Kemme. These candidates are God’s gift to us and our church’s family. We are so proud of them for they too are putting God first in their lives. They have been learning about the Holy Sacraments and living out their Catholic faith, especially at Holy Mass as lectors, ushers, greeters, gift bearers, etc.… May they continue growing in their Catholic faith to be fully alive as disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. “Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created.” We also thank our All Saints Catholic school children for helping with the Confirmation Mass as lectors, altar servers, gift bearers, etc.… Finally, please don’t forget to join us for Stations of the Cross every Friday during Lent at 5pm in English and 5:30pm in Vietnamese. Fridays during Lent: No meat please. Come Holy Spirit come, fill the hearts of my parishioners with your heavenly love for you and for others, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Are you ready to join your children and grandchildren for their Sacrament of Confirmation? Bishop Kemme will celebrate the Holy Sacrament on Saturday, March 7th at 4pm in our church. It will be a special blessing for our church family and for all our Confirmation children. I was told that it has been a long time for such an important event to be held in our church. Last year, I attended the Confirmation Mass at the Cathedral. Immediately, I said to myself that we will have our Confirmation in our own church. Our church is our spiritual home and it’s as big as the Cathedral. Also, we have plenty of parking lot space for everyone. I also don’t care to see people attending this important Mass in the hallway or a foyer because the church is too full. Everyone should be in church with God and to be with each other, singing and praising God. I can’t wait to see our children being blessed and empowered by God with His heavenly blessings. Saturday, March 7th at 9am, all Confirmandi are required to attend the retreat led by Fr. Curtis Hecker in the Fischer Center. At 11:20am in church, we will have adoration, confessions with guest priests, followed by the rehearsal in church. Parents and sponsors are welcome to join us for adoration and confessions and the rehearsal. Please keep our beloved children in your daily prayer this week as they are preparing their bodies, minds and souls for the coming of the Holy Spirit onto them. Confirmation Holy Mass will start at 4pm with the music being provided by the Vietnamese choir of our parish. Our All Saints’ Catholic school children will proclaim the word of God, bring up the gifts, etc.… Immediately after Mass, each student will take an individual picture with the bishop by the altar area. Please be respectful in church by NOT talking or carrying on a conversation in church. Everyone is invited to the reception in the Fischer Center after Mass. A special thanks to our confirmation facilitators & teachers: Sandy Nettleton, Carissa Cash, Jean Gengler, Susan Goheen, Marilyn Grommesh, Mary Hengel, Lien Kucera, Jenny Logan, Jami Moore, Linda Rangel, Anne Schock and Kim Spachek.
