My Dear Parishioners,
Are you ready for October? Yes, it’s near and we will have many events going on this month. First, please sign up to have your family picture taken on October 6th-7th, or one of these dates on November 1st-2nd, and finally 24th-25th. Your family picture will be ready for you and your family before Christmas. The 8x10 professional picture is free to you and to any family, including families that don't belong to our church or school. The pictorial company is inviting anyone to take their photos for the good of their family. At All Saints, we want to love and welcome everyone to our church and school so that we can grow together in faith and in love of God and neighbors. So, yes, we welcome you all. The last time we had our pictorial directory done was in 2018, five years ago. It’s time for us to do our duty by having family pictures taken for the good of our families and also for the good of our church. Please know that you do not have to buy additional pictures, unless you want to. Second, we are only two weeks away from the All Saints Marian Day on Saturday, October 7th. Everyone is welcome to join us and our school for lots of fun activities beginning 3pm Friday and all day Saturday. Please notice that the 4pm Mass on that Saturday is going to be at 3pm, followed by the Eucharistic procession with the statue of Mary. Bishop Kemme will be the celebrant for Mass and the procession. We will provide free dinner to everyone outdoors. Special thanks to our Knights for cooking the food and the Altar Society for serving desserts and drinks. Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless of your religion, race or language. Please pray for All Saints so that we will be blessed with many generous hands and hearts to help us celebrate our faith and to share God’s blessings with others, especially the non-Catholics that need hope and faith in them and their families. We all will be saints in heaven if today we hear His voice and share His love with others. We live to lead all people to Jesus. Jesus loves us all, and I love you too, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners And Blessings To You All,
It looks like the super hot summer is behind us and the nice, cool weather is starting because the fall season will start on Saturday, September 23. Fall is one of my favorite times of the year and I think it would be for many of you as well. First, the nice and cool weather is much more pleasant than over 100 degree summer days or the below zero degree winter. Second, the cool weather leads everything outside toward the winter, the changing colors of the leaves in the trees. Fall is beautiful not only here in Kansas but especially up in the northern states, in the forests and mountains. I highly recommend to those who have time to travel north, northeast and northwest to see the wonders of God’s creation and beauty. One of my bucket lists is to travel in the fall to these beautiful states to see and to enjoy God’s mighty work in His creation. I am hoping that I can do this sometime in the near future, (not this year yet due to the hvac and roofing projects we are installing). Third, the fall is also my hunting season when I can enjoy what Kansas has to offer in its fields of corn, soybeans, tall grasses and especially in the birds of the sky, but not the coyotes, raccoons, rats and especially snakes. Did you know that Kansas harvests about 100,000 deer every year? Yes, there are a lot of people who like to hunt and to share their game meat with others. Most of the time, those who are hunters, fishers, gardeners and outdoor persons are those who connect well with other people and God. They have learned to be patient and above all, to respect Mother Nature. Therefore, they normally do the same in their daily lives at home, work and even at church. So, please learn to be an outdoor person, it does a lot of good to your body, mind and soul. In addition, it’s the best method to de-stress and to have a good night’s sleep, which is very important for every person. I am thankful to God for my childhood that made me a handyman, a gardener and a fisherman, so that I can be God’s fisher of men today. Finally, we are three weeks away from the All Saints Marian Day on Saturday, October 7th. Please notice that the 4pm Mass on that day is going to be at 3pm, followed by the Eucharistic procession with the statue of Mary. Bishop Kemme will be the celebrant for Mass and the procession. We will provide free dinner to everyone outdoors, and there will be lots of fun all day and in the evening. Everyone is welcome to join us, regardless of your religion, race or language. God bless us all and I love you all, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Happy Grandparents Day to all grandparents! Grandparents are known for their great faith and unconditional love for their families. All grandparents will never forget the love and joy they had with their kids and grandkids/great grandkids, including the good meals they had together. They are always willing to support the lives of their children and grandchildren. They love to babysit their grandkids and be with them, including their sports. Many grandparents are the ones to support and put their grandkids in Catholic education. They are the ones who contacted the church for the sacraments for their grandkids. Of course, they are the ones who pray daily for their kids and grandkids as well as taking their grandkids to church when their parents fail to live out their Catholic faith. They are also world travelers and share many gifts and treasures with their loved ones. Personally, my grandparents (all deceased now) are to me the best shining example of people living their Catholic faith. I am sure and certain that without their great love and intercession for me, I would not have made it to the priesthood. My nine years in the seminaries was very difficult not only because of learning a new language but also because of adapting to a new culture as well as to the life of the seminaries. Throughout my life, I have always felt the love and prayers from my grandparents for they were all kind, loving and generous to me when I was a young child. Due to communism, I became separated from them since I was about 11 years old, by then two of them had already died. They all meant a lot to me. So, please love your grandparents if they are still with you. Don’t take them for granted. They will give you everything they have such as lots of love, prayers, support and financial help. All you have to do is be a good person in faith and in love towards your family. They don’t wish for you to be rich but only to be good to your family. May God bless our families, especially our elderly grandparents. God is good to us through them at all times. Thank you for being our grandparents today and eternally. Love you all, Fr. Hien |
