Happy Easter Everyone,
Alleluia, the Lord is risen. His Divine mercy and love are with us. The resurrection of Jesus is God’s salvation to mankind, those who love Him and serve Him with all their hearts. Thank you everyone who attended extra Masses during the Holy Week. I’m proud of you all. Congratulations to those who entered the Catholic Church at the Easter Vigil and to those who received other sacraments in the church. We congratulate you and welcome you into our church’s family. May God be with you always! This weekend, April 28th, we will celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday at all of our Masses. Please come to church early to pray before Jesus and to join us in asking God’s mercy upon us, our families and friends and the whole world. Tuesday, April 30th is the commemoration of the Fall of Saigon, Vietnam. The Vietnamese parishioners will pray the rosary at 5:30pm, followed by Holy Mass at 6pm in the Church in Vietnamese (no 5:30pm Mass in the chapel). Everyone is invited to pray with us and to join us for the reception in the Fischer Center afterwards. For those who do not know, the main reason the Vietnamese people are living in America and scattered throughout the world today is because of the Vietnam War and the Communist regime that took over Vietnam. Many years ago, wars were going on in Vietnam, including with the United States. About 58 thousand U.S. soldiers were killed in Vietnam along with over 2 million innocent lives. April 30, 1975 was the day that the Americans left Vietnam; therefore, it was the day that the Communist party took over the entire country of Vietnam (like the North Korean Regime would take over South Korea). Beginning on that day, millions of Vietnamese, especially the Catholics and those who helped the Americans during the war, had to flee from the Communist regime by foot, air and boats for freedom and for their livelihood. Over a million people lost their lives, mostly in the Pacific Ocean, like one of my cousins and many of my neighbors. Some were drowned, some were attacked by pirates and killed. Many south Vietnamese soldiers were captured, tortured and imprisoned. April 30th was the saddest day for us Vietnamese people living outside of Vietnam. Please come and pray with us for God’s healing and peace and the eternal life to those who lost their lives (including the American soldiers) in the war and on their escape exodus. God bless their brave souls. First Holy Communion will be Saturday, May 4th at our 4pm Holy Mass. Our All Saints children will lead the singing at Mass. Our Children are Christopher Bramhall, Anthony Bui, John Do, Caleb Guzman, Beyonca Irwin, Alejandro Jimenez, Minh Q. Le, Zemirah Melton, Daniel Miller-Rodriguez, Jamal Rolfe-Murray, Olyve Tajchman, Adriel Hernandez, Danh Hoang, Olivia LeDonne, Lauren Lies, Madelyn Patterson and Joey Rupe. Happy Easter Everyone, Fr. Hien Building Fund: From everyone in our church family, we want to thank many individuals and families, parishioners and non-parishioners, who have contributed generously to our building fund. Up to date, we are blessed with $177,111. Every registered parishioner/family was asked for a suggested amount and if you have not contributed yet, please know that we are still waiting for your gift to our parish so that we can reach our goal of $170,000. We are grateful to you and the many donors. Happy Easter Everyone!
Since Easter is near, I have to write this message early for the bulletin company. On Tuesday April 16th, you are welcome to join me and all the priests of our diocese for a special Holy Mass called “the Chrism Mass.” At this special Mass, all priests will renew the promises they made on their ordination day. Our Bishop will bless all the oils for our use throughout the year. Please come and join us at the Cathedral at 11am if you can. Are you ready for Easter? To celebrate this Holy Easter full of joy and love for Jesus, please make every effort to attend our Holy Masses this Holy Week. I would like to ask every person to attend one extra Mass this week to honor Jesus. Why? It’s because Jesus loved us so much that He willingly suffered for us. He died for our sins. He rose from the dead so that we may rise with Him to eternal life in heaven. Here is our Triduum schedule: Holy Thursday at 6:30pm, Mass of the Last Supper; Good Friday at 3pm, the Passion of Jesus and the Veneration of His Holy Cross; Holy Saturday Vigil Mass at 8:30pm to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and to welcome our new members into the Catholic Church. Here are their names so that you can start praying for them and congratulate them later. Adults: Melissa Martinez, Kathy Palacios, Dieu Vuong, James Banh. Children: William Dudula, Marissa Courtright, Areli Jimenez, Oscar and Mateo Martinez. Please also help me in thanking all those who helped with our RCIA programs for our children and adults. We are blessed to have them teaching and passing the Catholic faith on to others. On Easter Sunday: Please join me and many good-hearted people, children of God coming together to celebrate Easter. We will sing and praise God together with “Alleluia, the Lord is risen.” We will share that heavenly joy with each other. We will wish each other a Happy Easter. Me, I will have candies to make you a little sweeter on your Easter day. I promise you that they all will be super sweet, and you too on Easter Day. Finally, the Sunday after Easter Sunday, we will celebrate the Divine Mercy of God for all of humanity at all the Masses in our parish. Blessed be God forever, Fr. My Dear Parishioners,
Our 40 days of Holy Lent for spiritual growth through our personal prayer, fasting and almsgiving are leading us to a joyful Easter, the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Please know that there is still time to prepare your heart and soul for Jesus. Thank you to those who made their confession with guest priests last Sunday. I will be available for confessions before every weekend Mass, and after our 5:30pm Mass on Tuesday and Thursday, except from Holy Thursday to Easter Sunday. The Triduum is the most hectic time for pastors to get everything ready for the liturgy and everyone ready to serve well at Mass. Each Mass/service on these three days is so different and requires so much preparation. Please don’t wait until the last minute for confession. This weekend is Palm Sunday. As you enter our church for Holy Mass, please pick up only one palm so that we will have enough palms for everyone at all four Masses. I will bless you and the palms at the beginning of Mass. Triduum: please make every effort to attend one extra Mass this week on Holy Thursday at 6:30pm, Mass of the Last Supper; Good Friday at 3pm, the Passion of Jesus and the veneration of His Holy Cross; Holy Saturday Vigil Mass at 8:30pm to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus and to welcome our new members into the Catholic Church. PS. Our love, prayer and sympathy are extended to the family of Ralph Ignowski. Ralph was 96 years old, died Saturday, March 30. We celebrated his funeral Mass on Thursday, April 4. Ralph had retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years. He served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Thank God for his many years as a faithful member of our church family and for his years serving our country. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace eternally in heaven. Amen. Finally, please know that it’s important to God and to our church family that you attend Holy Masses this week. I promise to celebrate them in a timely manner and as beautifully as I possibly can. Come and join me and so many people like us who love Jesus dearly, so that we will have a blessed Easter, Fr. Hien My Dear Parishioners,
Happy April! I hope none of you were fooled on April 1st. April is a special month of the year, when all Christians throughout the world celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Jesus so loved us that He willingly suffered for us, died for us and rose from the dead so that we too, after our earthly suffering and death, will rise with Jesus to eternal life. Suffering and death will have no power over us if today we love Jesus and become one with Him in God’s holy sacraments. Please make every effort to pray daily, to give thanks to God for your body, mind and soul, and to always become one with Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. Jesus loves you and He is waiting for you to inherit the eternal life of heaven with all the angels and saints. 40 days of Lent are coming to an end, please join us for our parish penance service this Sunday, April 7th at 4pm, in church. Come and go as you please. Please pray your act of contrition before entering for your confession so that others don’t have to wait too long in line. Our guest confessors are Fr. Douglas Campbell (in the west confessional), Fr. Dominic Potnuru (sacristy) and Fr. Benjamin Green (east confessional). Please come to church early to make your own examination of conscience. Examination guides will be available for you. Also, please do your penance in church before heading home so that you will not forget. In all Catholic Churches, please always be respectful in God’s house by not talking/visiting in church. Church is God’s house and not a social or market place; therefore, no food or chewing gum or playing with your phones at any time in church (yes, you can use your phone in church for scripture readings or other spiritual prayers). On Sundays, please always wear your Sunday best for God to fulfill your Sunday obligation. Shorts and revealing clothes are not appropriate for Holy Mass. No one should wear a hat in church, unless for medical reasons. Also, please be on time for Masses so that you will not be locked out due to security and safety for everyone in church. The code to the single door of the church has been changed. Only those who have the need to enter the church such as for choir practice, cleaning our church and bathrooms, sacristans and homebound ministers, etc. will have access to the church through this single door. For adoration, please use the chapel’s door with it’s separate code. Love you all and can’t wait to celebrate our Catholic faith with you, Fr. Hien Building Fund: From everyone in our church family, we want to thank many individuals and families, parishioners and non-parishioners, who have contributed generously to our building fund. Up to date, we are blessed with $168,861.00.
