My Dear Parishioners,
Society of St. Vincent de Paul: Recently, the Society of the neighboring parishes requested a visit with me and asked for an opportunity to give a short talk after this weekend’s Masses, February 26-27. Their hope is to have more helpers/volunteers involved in their ministry. If you are called to this special ministry, please don’t be afraid to join them. Unfortunately, there are people in need of financial help, including paying their bills. Thankfully we don’t have any parishioners asking for financial help from the parish. Maybe they know that we too have many large bills to pay, such as over $9k for last month's gas bill, and over $15K for February 2021. I hope it will not be as bad this month. Please keep up the good work by being smart with your time, talent and treasure, to always take care of what you have, to save when you can, to live a simple lifestyle, to not get addicted to gambling, drugs, etc., to avoid high maintenance and costly stuff that you can’t afford, and to always give thanks to God for your life, your loved ones, and all that you have. Ash Wednesday is this Wednesday, March 2nd with Masses at 8am and 12noon in English. Our All Saints Catholic school children will attend the 8am Mass and do all the liturgical ministries. Ash Wednesday--fasting: Can only eat 1 full meal and 2 lesser meals. Abstinence: abstain from all red meats. During Lent, please do your prayers, fasting and almsgiving for the love of God and for your salvation. 40 days of Lent can help you to be faithful disciples of Jesus and be that “good and faithful” steward of God. There is a Vietnamese Mass at 6:30pm if you can’t attend the other Masses. God bless, Fr. Hien Comments are closed.
