My Dear Parishioners,
Happy Grandparents Day to all grandparents! Grandparents are known for their great faith and unconditional love for their families. All grandparents will never forget the love and joy they had with their kids and grandkids/great grandkids, including the good meals they had together. They are always willing to support the lives of their children and grandchildren. They love to babysit their grandkids and be with them, including their sports. Many grandparents are the ones to support and put their grandkids in Catholic education. They are the ones who contacted the church for the sacraments for their grandkids. Of course, they are the ones who pray daily for their kids and grandkids as well as taking their grandkids to church when their parents fail to live out their Catholic faith. They are also world travelers and share many gifts and treasures with their loved ones. Personally, my grandparents (all deceased now) are to me the best shining example of people living their Catholic faith. I am sure and certain that without their great love and intercession for me, I would not have made it to the priesthood. My nine years in the seminaries was very difficult not only because of learning a new language but also because of adapting to a new culture as well as to the life of the seminaries. Throughout my life, I have always felt the love and prayers from my grandparents for they were all kind, loving and generous to me when I was a young child. Due to communism, I became separated from them since I was about 11 years old, by then two of them had already died. They all meant a lot to me. So, please love your grandparents if they are still with you. Don’t take them for granted. They will give you everything they have such as lots of love, prayers, support and financial help. All you have to do is be a good person in faith and in love towards your family. They don’t wish for you to be rich but only to be good to your family. May God bless our families, especially our elderly grandparents. God is good to us through them at all times. Thank you for being our grandparents today and eternally. Love you all, Fr.
